Puppy Play 101 + Photo Day

Saturday 7 October 2017 at the Black Eagle Toronto from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm

In preparation for the 9th Anniversary of Pup Night at the Black Eagle Toronto, BEKK Pack Leader Argo will present an introductory workshop event which will cover the basics of Puppy Play as both a pup and a handler. He will demonstrate pup gear (including items available at The Men’s Room and Northbound Leather) and cover basic pup etiquette & how to be a Mosh Monitor for the Black Eagle Kennel Klub events.

This is a beginner’s level workshop, but everyone interested is welcome to attend regardless of experience level, gender, or sexuality. Admission is free of charge.

After the workshop, there will be a portrait session for any BEKK members (only) who do not yet have member ID photo cards. Active members receive a member ID photo card which entitles them to a 15% discount at both Northbound Leather and The Men’s Room. It also provides the bearer with “front of the line” privileges at the Black Eagle for BEKK events.

See you there!

Pup Night’s 9th Anniversary

Pup Night at the Black Eagle Toronto started in October of 2008 as the idea of Sir Dart. With his faithful (if not terribly obedient) dog Argo at his side, Sir Dart created a space for all people interested in puppy play (regardless of gender or sexuality) to socialize, learn, and feel like they belonged.  What started with one handler and one pup has since grown into Canada’s largest monthly puppy event and one of the largest of its kind in the world.

Our Pup Nights now often draw 40 to 60 pups, plus handlers, plus a bar full of spectators & friends.  It seems like we get new pups & handlers every month.

Our continued growth has led to a second monthly event…our sex-positive “Bad Dog” which itself is growing rapidly in popularity.  It’s also helped us to create our very successful annual Pan American Canine Konvention (PACK) Weekend, which in its 2nd year nearly doubled in attendance.

Join the Black Eagle Kennel Klub on Saturday October 21st as we celebrate our 9th Anniversary at our amazing home bar – the Black Eagle Toronto.

September’s Pup Night

Our September 16th Pup Night was AWESOME!!!

We had nearly 60 pups plus a huge number of handlers, friends, and spectators.  We packed the Black Eagle’s main floor!

The evening also featured the “Puppies Feeding People” event where the BEKK helped out Spearhead Toronto’s campaign to support the Toronto People Living With HIV/AIDS (PWA) Food Bank.  We collected a substantial amount of items and cash donations.  In support of this event, the BEKK donated all the coat check money as well.

Many thanks to everyone who attended and who pitched in to help a worthy cause.

Puppies Feeding People

Please bring some non-perishable food items to the September 16th Pup Night at the Black Eagle Toronto, as the Black Eagle Kennel Klub supports Spearhead Toronto’s Food Drive for the Toronto PWA Foundation Food Bank.

Donations of disposable diapers, baby food, socks, gloves, and other small usable personal items will also be welcomed.

pack 2017 weekend round-up

Looks like we’ll be wrapping up the final PACK 2017 Weekend event soon. I finally have a chance to sit down, breathe, and reflect upon what appeared to have been an incredibly successful event.

This year’s attendance was 50% above last year’s. We had more events, and thanks to our amazing sponsors our weekend package was less expensive than last year.

We had 6 brave pups compete in Saturday’s “Best In Show” contest in front of a remarkably large & enthusiastic crowd.  We had some fun displays of talent including one pup who sang live.  Congratulations to Pup Tosa from Montreal for claiming the blue ribbon!

Our “Best In Show” Contest Judges: (L to R) Luca, Snuggles, Doodle, and Randy

We added a new Sunday event – the “Wet Dog” party and “Bad Dog”-style intimate pup mosh. Since so many pups & handlers came from out of town, we didn’t expect such an amazing turnout. When I asked the crowd “Should we do this again next year?” their response was a resounding “YES!!”

There are many people I want to thank:

First of all – my fellow Black Eagle Kennel Klub executives Jordan Timbehr and Pup Ego.   Events like this take a LOT of work, and you two pups have been outstanding. I hope you pups also managed to have some fun in there.

Many thanks to our amazing volunteers! I don’t want to list you because I’m afraid I might miss one of you. Just know that I see what you do for the BEKK and your packmates, and I appreciate it.

While I’m on the subject of packmates – let’s talk about the BEKK itself and the Toronto Pup & Handler community. I can’t believe how amazing this community is. When we all keep hearing about the demise of “community” everywhere, ours keeps growing bigger and stronger. It makes me incredibly happy to see how we’ve come together for one another. THIS is what makes all the effort worthwhile!

Of course, I must thank our outstanding sponsors: The Black Eagle Toronto, Northbound Leather, The Men’s Room, O’Grady’s & The Lodge, Pegasus on Church, MyDogTag, and Baskin Robbins in the Village. Without their support we couldn’t do what we do. Without ours, neither can they…so PLEASE show our sponsors the love they continue to show us!

I also want to thank all the pups & handlers who attended PACK 2017 Weekend…especially those of you who traveled here from out of town. I hope you had a good time and felt that the trip was worth it.

On a personal note, I must thank my own pup and life-partner Jeremy Feist for his support and patience. As I’d stated, putting events like PACK together take a lot of work. Imagine having to live with ME through not only this, but year-round needing to share your partner with 300+ other puppies. He’s an exceptional young man, and the most important thing in the world to me. Thanks baby. I love you.

In less than an hour PACK 2017 Weekend will be one for our pack’s history. I think it’s pretty safe to say it’ll be one of the happier memories, and look forward to (someone else) organizing PACK 2018.

Your pack is your family…and we have a good one here. Please let’s keep it this way for as long as we can; and always keep this thought in your head & heart: “It’s not MY community. It’s OUR community.”

Love, hugs, and puppy humps…

Big Dog Argo

PACK Weekend Private “Wet Dog” Party

New for PACK 2017 the BEKK is hosting a private party at the Black Eagle Toronto on Sunday 30 July 2017 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm (before the bar opens to the public that day.)

“Wet Dog” is actually two fun events at the same time.  On the main floor there’ll be a Bad Dog style sex-positive pup mosh.  Upstairs on the patio there’ll be a water-pistol fight.

Admission is included as part of your PACK Weekend VIP Package ($10.00 for non-VIP Package holders) which also gets you a water pistol and garment check.

Check out the PACK Weekend section for the event details and rules.

The forecast for that day is mostly sunny and hot, so come out and have some fun!!
